The Ethanol Trifecta

Ethanol gets the trifecta of government support.

1. It's subsidized
2. It's protected from foreign competition
3. It's use is mandated

And the mandate is set to go even further.  The EPA wants gasoline to be 15% ethanol, and that has engine manufacturers up in arms.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.  If a private good needs to be subsidized, protected, and mandated, it's probably not a very good product.
