Historically one of the major reason that Florida farmers keep losing market share to Latin American farmers is that the Florida land is too valuable for housing, etc, to be used for growing vegetables.

With the housing bust that may not be a major factor right now, but in the long run are we, and the Latin American farmers better off because Florida farm land is being shifted into other uses?

I would think so.
