I recently read Warren Meyer's (aka the creator of Coyote Blog) BMOC, a murder mystery thriller about an entrepreneur taken to task by a lawyer, politicians, and the mafia. Warren was nice enough to send me a copy of his book which I review below.
The book chronicles the intersection of several people. BMOC, a company that helps teens figure out what sorts of things will make them popular, is a creation of entrepreneur Preston Marsh. BMOC's business is of no small matter to some very powerful and influential people who see BMOC as a direct competitor and, thus, a threat to their way of life. Helped by a US senator (who, incidentally, has been caught with his pants down and needs to take the high road to create a diversion) and a trial lawyer with a personal vendetta against Mr. Marsh, the New Jersey mafia is called into action to get BMOC lawsuited out of existence.
The heroine of the book, Susan Hunter, is a Harvard MBA who gets an internship with BMOC, but she gets more than she bargained for as she finds herself in the middle of the action. The moral of the story: watch out for whom you intern.
No doubt that many readers of this blog also read Coyote Blog, so you
know that he writes well and he understands economic motives, qualities that come out in his book. Once I started reading the book, it was difficult to put it down. There are some teasers at the end that suggest that sequels may be forthcoming.
