This is a bit late, but I said the following at the dinner table (to puzzled looks and rolled eyes, I might add) at Thanksgiving this year:
I am thankful for the big oil companies that produce a valuable product that allows me the freedom to travel to places that I probably would never visit and meet people I would never meet. I am thankful for big oil companies for producing a product that, when burned, does produce pollution, but it is a pollution that beats the mess and filth of the exhaust left behind in the horse-drawn carriage days.
