I recall being at the Field House watching the University of Arkansas' men's basketball (MBB) program open its new Bud Walton Arena back in November of 1993 by crushing the University of Missouri, by a score of 120-68, at that point the worst-ever loss by a Tiger MBB squad. That Hog squad, coached by Nolan Richardson who was assisted by, among others, Mike Anderson, went on to win the NCAA national championship that year.
Mike Anderson is now the coach of Mizzou and now the Tigers have a new fan:
Anderson's mentor, legendary Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson, already is making plans to spend time in Columbia to root for his new favorite team. "I'm a Tiger now," Richardson told us. "Black and gold are my new favorite colors."
Who says you can't publicly change allegiances?
