Next time, go to or put the parrot in a different room:
A computer programmer found out his girlfriend was having an affair when his pet parrot kept repeating her lover's name, British media reported Tuesday.
The African grey parrot kept squawking "I love you, Gary" as his owner, Chris Taylor, sat with girlfriend Suzy Collins on the sofa of their shared flat in Leeds, northern England.
This is another reason why cats rule over parrots.
HT to the Emirates Economist for an email with the link.
Update: Rondi Adamson has some thoughts here.
What bothers me with this story, though, is that this guy subsequently got rid of Ziggy, the parrot! He dropped his girlfriend, which makes sense, but why punish the parrot? Seems this fellow couldn't stand hearing the parrot repeat his rival's name.
He did the right thing. Once your mate cheats on you, you want to explode each time you hear the name of the other lover.
