Like so many others, I watched the landing of Jet Blue flight 292 make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport this evening. Through the magic of DirecTV, I followed the action for about an 1 hour.
The way the pilot eased the nose down, first touching the rear tire of the front landing gear down and then, after about 10 seconds, gently touching down the front tire, was a thing of beauty. It took 10 seconds between the time the rear tire of the front landing gear touched down and the front wheel touched down! Wow! Keep your nose up! Way to go! I raise a toast to you. Prost!
My durables watched with my wife and me. They thought the burning of the tire and metal of the landing gear was cool. They also liked to see pictures of all the fire trucks and the police cars. Ah, to be 3 or 5 again!
